Next Steps: From Assessment to Support

A simple guide to what happens after your diagnostic assessment and how your support is put in place.

You’ve completed your diagnostic assessment - what now?

Once your diagnostic assessment is complete, you’ll receive a letter confirming your recommended support.

This is your next step towards accessing the right help for your learning needs.

Step 1: Review your support

Your outcome letter will outline the support you are eligible for, which may include:

  • Specialist study skills support

  • Assistive technology

  • Mentoring or coaching

  • In-session learning support

This forms the basis of your support plan.

Step 3: Your support is set up

Once you’ve made contact:

  • Your needs are reviewed in detail

  • You are matched with the right specialist support

  • Your support plan is confirmed

Step 2: Contact your support provider

You will need to contact the provider listed in your outcome letter to begin arranging your support.

They will:

  • Confirm your eligibility and support details

  • Arrange your support sessions

  • Guide you through the onboarding process

Step 4: Your support begins

Your support starts once arrangements are in place and is tailored to you.

It focuses on:

  • Building confidence and independence

  • Developing effective study strategies

  • Supporting your learning needs in real time

Understanding the Learner Support Fund (LSF)

The Learner Support Fund is additional financial support that may be available if you need help with:

  • Specialist learning support

  • Extra tutoring or academic help

  • Travel or equipment related to your learning needs

  • Support linked to a disability, learning difficulty, or health condition.

This fund is designed to remove barriers to learning and ensure you can fully participate in your apprenticeship. It is there to make sure that cost or circumstance does not prevent you from accessing the support you need.

DSA Vs. LSF

In some cases, learners may receive both, depending on eligibility and circumstances.
